Chat On Any Web Page in Real-Time with Nurph

Nurph is a really cool service that puts a real-time chat box on top of any web page and lets you connect with your Twitter account. This is achieved by either entering a URL in the box at the top of the Nurph site or, by using the bookmarklet to open up a chat on the current web page you’re on. You can then share the nurphed link with your friends so that they can join you to chat in real-time.

I suggest using the bookmarklet since it’s more convenient than having to go to Nurph.com and entering the URL from there. Either way, once you do you’ll have a little chat window on top of the page as pictured below.

Here you’ll see that you can easily enter another URL to go to right within the window. You can also sign in (via Twitter OAuth). There are options to share the URL for others to join via Twitter, email or Facebook. Once other people join, they’ll be listed in the participants list on the right side.
Your Nurph URLs can be used by anyone and posted anywhere. So, this URL can be used as your “virtual hangout” and promoted on all your social profiles if you desire. Best of all, whatever you post in a chat window is kept there and not posted on your Twitter account.
For all you bloggers out there, there’s also a button that can be added to your blog posts to encourage your reader interaction. As you can see, this is a great way to get people talking about your blog.

Nurph just went into the public beta stage so there’s still a lot of tweaking going on. It’s definitely a nice idea and it smoothly works with any site – no lag that I noticed.
